CIAN MEMBERSHIP

Join CIAN, the professional body responsible for determining what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by persons seeking to become registered as licensed and Certified Auctioneers and raising those standards from time to time as circumstances permit in Nigeria. Ensure the practice of Auctioneering is done professionally in Nigeria. There are three membership categories in the institute, Fellow (FCAI), Full Member (MCAI) and Associate (ACAI)

GETTING STARTED

Application for CIAN Membership must be made on prescribed form.. Applicant shall produce evidence of age, place of work and photocopies of educational qualifications with a passport size photograph attached to the application. The membership application can be completed online or download from the membership page of the institute. Please complete and submit to the National Secretariat.

The application require an undertaking from the applicant to abide by the bye laws and code of conduct of the institute. Membership admission is subject to the Council decision.

JOIN CIAN AS A DIRECT MEMBER

To join as a direct member, you will need to complete:

  1. BASIC AUCTIONEERS CERTIFICATE COURSE: The basic auctioneer Course is for graduates and professionals wishing to make career in auctioneering or expand their sources of income. The program require participant to either hold:

  1. A graduate of Higher Institutions holding HND, B.Sc, M.Sc, LLB etc in Estate Management, Insurance, Engineering, Sales and marketing, Communication etc or

  2. Be a holder of Professional qualification such as NIESV, ACA, ACIB, NIM, NIA, ANAN, etc

Participants can complete their basic auctioneers course online and pass the CBT exam.

PASS MARK 60%.

Passing the exams qualifies participant to be inducted as Associate or full member.

  1. ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN PROPERTY AUCTIONEERING

Holders of Advanced Diploma in Property Auctioneering offered by University of Ibadan Consultancy Services Unit are admitted directly into membership. The institute membership application must be completed with evidence of payment of enrolment and induction fees.

The Advanced Diploma in Property Auctioneering is a 3 month course delivered using zoom video conference

Admission requirement: Holders of HND, B.Sc, M.Sc, LLB, NIESV, ACA, NIM, NIMA, etc

Application form is obtainable from the University of Ibadan Consultancy Services Unit Etkanemi Road, Beside Fisheries Department, University of Ibadan.

FELLOW REGISTRATION

  • The applicant must be a financial full member of the institute

  • Must be a full member for a minimum of 5 years

  • Must possess CIAN Basic Auctioneers Certificate or Advanced Diploma in Property Auctioneering

  • This is the highest grade of professional qualification in the auctioneer industry in Africa, it is opened to those who have distinguished themselves in the practice of auctioneering

FULL MEMBER REGISTRATION

No person shall be enrolled as a full member of the institute unless

  • He/She possess a minimum of HND, BSC, LLB, MSC, MBA or recognized professional qualification

  • Hold CIAN Basic Auctioneers Certificate

  • Advanced Diploma in Property Auctioneering

  • Have a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in auctioneering or related field in the private or public sector

ASSOCIATE REGISTRATION

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • HND, BSC, LLB, MSC, NIESV, ACA, BL, NIM

  • Holders of CIAN Basic Certificate in Auctioneering or Advanced Diploma in Property Auctioneering

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP

Auction Companies

The Corporate membership is tailored for organizations wishing to be registered as an Auction Company enhancing their professional credibility, reputation and access to various public sector auctions in Nigeria and across the globe.

Key Requirement:- Valid Registration with Corporate Affairs Commission as a Ltd or business name

2) Must include auction business as part of Memorandum of Association of the Company objectives

3) Key Director must possess CIAN Associateship or full Membership Certificate

4) Must have a verifiable office address

5) Payment of Corporate Registration fees

6) Submission of completed Corporate membership application form.
